Sony also developed highly accurate servo signal technology that improves data writing and reading accuracy. This is a DDS-3 data cartridge from Hewlett Packard. It is 125 meters in length and stores 12GB of native data and 24GB of compressed data. It is designed to last at least 2,000 passes or 100 full backups.

Long-term archival storage and a low error rate, Sony DDS tapes employ a magnetic material that has outstanding magnetic transfer characteristics.
